Alexander Field, South Wood County Airport, is a municipally-owned airport that has been in operation since late 1927, located at 3620 1st Street South, Wisconsin Rapids, WI 54494. The airport is municipally owned and operated by the Town of Grand Rapids, Village of Port Edwards, City of Nekoosa, and City of Wisconsin Rapids. The airport is governed by the South Wood County Airport Commission, which is made up of one representative from each municipality, as well as the Airport Administrator. Daily operations are handled by the Fixed Base Operator (FBO).
The longest runway is 5500', which can handle most size planes coming into the area. Fuel is available at Alexander Field through the Fixed Base Operator (FBO), and consists of 100LL, Jet A and Auto-87 Octane. Car rentals are also available through the FBO. Alexander Field is open 24/7 for incoming or outgoing flights.Normal hours of operation for the airport are: Summer 7:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m., Winter 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., but services are available 24 hours a day.
