Job Title: Director of Planning and Economic Development

Description: This newly created position will be responsible for directing and managing all matters related to code enforcement, zoning, building inspections, planning and economic development. The incumbent will direct and supervise all inspection services and code enforcement; act as the City’s Zoning Administrator; administer economic development grants; coordinate development projects and draft development agreements; manage and coordinate City planning; be responsible for all City industrial and business park development; and will develop and implement the City’s comprehensive plan.

Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Public or Business Administration, or closely related field. A Master’s Degree in Planning or Public Administration and CEcD certification is preferred. A minimum of five years’ experience of increasingly responsible experience in planning, engineering, zoning, economic or community development with a municipality is required, in addition to a minimum of three years of supervisory, administrative, and budgeting experience.

Residence within the Wisconsin Rapids School District or within a 15-mile radius of City Hall, within 12 months of hire, is required.

Pay Range: Starting salary for this position is $59,923, with an excellent fringe benefit package.
