Job Title: Firefighter/Paramedic
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship
- A minimum of age 18 at time of appointment
- A valid CPAT certificate (no older than 1 year at time of application)
- Possess a valid Driver’s License.
- Education – An applicant must meet the following minimum requirements and provide supporting documentation:
1) Firefighter II,
2) EMT-Basic at time of application, EMT-Paramedic at time of hire, current State of Wisconsin licensure or National Registry card,
3) An Associate Degree in a fire/EMS discipline such as Fire Technology, Fire Protection, Fire Science, or Paramedicine, or the equivalency of such a degree (30 credit hours in a related field and two years’ experience as a firefighter and/or EMT).
- Any certifications or licenses referred to in the above subsections must be current at time of application and supporting documentation must be provided at the time of application.
- Must be of good character verified by a pre-appointment investigation.
- Must be able to distinguish color.
- Become a resident of the Wisconsin Rapids School District, or within 15 miles of City Hall within one year from date of appointment.
Pay Range: Starting salary as of 2006 is $36,650.52, plus an attractive fringe benefit package, to include group health, dental, and life insurance and participation in the State Retirement Plan.
