Job Title: Police Officer
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship
- A minimum age of 21 at time of appointment
- Associate Degree in Police Science, or a college degree in a related field, or minimum of 60 credit hours of college level courses attested by a transcript from the college
- Completion of Basic Police Recruit Training with Wisconsin Certification (Proof of certifiability is required at time of hire)
- Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License
- Must have ability to swim and survive in water rescue operations
- Must be able to withstand a pre-appointment investigation
- Vision correctable to 20/20
- Able to distinguish color
- Must be fluent in speaking and writing English
- Must have and be able to maintain the legal right to possess firearms
- Must live in the boundaries of the Wisconsin Rapids School District or within a 15-mile radius of City Hall within one (1) year from date of appointment
Any certifications, degrees or licenses referred to in the above minimum requirements must be current at time of application, unless otherwise specified, and supporting documentation must be provided at the time of application.
Examination Procedures: All qualified candidates will be required to pass a written, physical agility, and swimming test.
Pay Range: The starting salary, based on the 2008 contract, is $42,985.64. The City currently provides a competitive fringe benefit program, to include group health, dental, and life insurance, plus participation in the State Retirement Plan.
