National Police Week honors the law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. These heroes will never be forgotten for their ultimate sacrifice. Beginning in 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation declaring May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day, and the same calendar week as National Police Week. Mayor Matt Zacher has made a proclamation for Public Service Recognition Week, beginning May 5-11, 2024.
This week has been celebrated on the first week of every May since 1985. It is used to recognize and honor the individuals who serve our nation as federal, state, county, local, and tribal government employees. Mayor Matt Zacher has made a proclamation for Professional Municipal Clerks Week, from May 5th - May 11th, 2024.
This is in recognition of the many contributions made by municipal clerks as a vital part of local government. Mayor Matt Zacher has made a proclamation for Mental Health Awareness Month. Observed every year since 1949, the month is used to raise awareness, educate the public, provide necessary support, and fight the stigma that surrounds mental health.
