Where do I purchase a Permit?
Permits can be purchased at City Hall between the hours of 12:00PM to 4:00PM.
Can I bow hunt in the City?
Yes, but you may only hunt in limited areas and you must get a permit at the Police Department. View a map of authorized bow hunting areas.
What is curfew in the City?
Curfew in the City of Wisconsin Rapids is 10pm to 5am for anybody under the age of 17. There are limited exceptions for circumstances such as coming home from work or a school function. See ordinance 25.08 for complete details.
Can I park on the street overnight?
Alternate side parking is allowed from 2 a.m. to 5 a.m. on all city streets, unless otherwise posted or exempt from the ordinance. On even numbers calendar days, all vehicles shall be parked on the even numbered side of the street. On odd numbered calendar days, all vehicles shall be parked on the odd numbered side of the street. In the event of a snow emergency, there is NO parking on any city streets for the duration of the snow emergency.
Can my group get a tour of the Police Department?
Yes, the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department will gladly host a tour of the department and its equipment for scouts, pre-schools, classes, and other interested folks. To arrange a tour please call the shift commander's office at 421-6207. The shift commander will ask about the size of the group and find a time that works for you and us. If the shift commander is out of the office, please leave your name and number and he will return your call.
Is my driver's license valid?
You can find out the status of your driver's license or license plates online at the Wisconsin DOT website.
How do I get my lot corners located?
Fill out a survey request form at the Engineering Department and pay a $50.00 fee.
Can I have a driveway cut in the curb?
In a commercial area, a driveway plan must be submitted for approval. In a residential area, the driveway must be 15' from the corner, 3' from the lot line and 12' from any existing driveway with a maximum width of 30'. A $40.00 concrete permit must be taken out at the Engineering Department. The driveway approach must be constructed according to city specifications, and made out of concrete with a driveway section formed into the driveway. The work can only be done by the property owner or a licensed and bonded contractor.
Can I use airsoft guns in the City?
No. Under current ordinance airsoft style guns are not allowed. The ordinance is 25.13 and is currently under review.
I need to get fingerprinted for work. Where can I get this done?
The Wisconsin Rapids Police Department will fingerprint people for work or other reasons as time permits. No appointments will be taken, but if you come in with your paperwork we will assist you when we have an officer available. You will also need photo identification. The cost is $10, unless you live or work within the City Limits, which then the fee is waived.
