Property Maintenance Code
The City of Wisconsin Rapids adopted the 2009 International Property Maintenance Code with local amendments on June 15, 2010. The code can be viewed here. Common Ordinance Violation Regulations
Grass and Weeds. Section 36.302.4 of the Municipal Code requires all premises and exterior property to be maintained free from weeds or plant growth in excess of seven (7) inches. One written notice is provided each calendar year. After one written notice no additional notices are required by the ordinance before City crews may be sent to maintain the property and the property owner charged for the cost. Sidewalk Snow Removal. Section 6.15 of the Municipal Code requires snow from sidewalks located within the right-of-way be cleared within 24 hours of the end of each snowfall. If snow is not removed after notice from the City, City crews may be sent to clear the sidewalk of snow. Property owners are charged for the cost and may be fined for failure to comply. Parking of Vehicles on Grass. Section 11.06 of the Municipal Code requires all off-street parking area to be graded and surfaced. This includes vehicles within residential areas. In no portion of the City is it legal to park a vehicle on grass. Premises Identification (Addressing). Section 36.304.3 of the Municipal Code requires that approved address numbers be placed on all properties. Address numbers may be numerals or letters, but shall be a minimum of 4 inches high and a maximum of 10 inches high with a minimum stroke with of 0.5 inch. Additional regulations regarding the location of the address numbers do apply. Recycling. Section 7.04 of the Municipal Code requires residents of the City to recycle. Items approved for recycling include, but are not limited to: paper, aluminum, glass, plastic and steel. Section 7.06 requires multi-family recycling and Section 7.07 requires commercial, institutional and industrial recycling as well. |
