Planning and Zoning
The Community Development Department's mission is to promote a safe, diverse and dynamic vibrant community by enhance the living, working and recreation choices for community residents and visitors. To fulfill this mission, the Department is organized into four different divisions; Permits and Inspections, Ordinance Control, Planning and Zoning and Economic Development. Staff work together to ensure compliance with local and state ordinances and codes and fulfill the objectives of the City’s Comprehensive Plan.
INFORMATION ON ELECTRICAL REPAIRS NECESSARY DUE TO STORM DAMAGE.
Due to the City’s emergency declaration, in response to COVID-19, the Community Development Department office has been closed to the public. All services and operations of the department will continue, including building inspections and the issuance of permits. Department staff can be contacted via email or phone.
Inspectors will continue to perform field inspections, however it is strongly recommended that any inspections that can be performed remotely be submitted, such as via the submission of photographs. On-site inspections will still be required for many improvement activities. Permits will still be received and processed. Fees associated with permits can be paid via mailed check or over the phone by calling department staff. Please visit the Permits and Inspections website for more information.
Code enforcement will continue, and complaints or tips can still be provided through the City’s SeeClickFix software via the App or online here: Code Enforcement. Exterior inspections will continue to be performed, however know that they may be suspended in the future at the discretion of the Director of Community Development.
City Planning/Zoning and Economic Development operations will continue, including those inspections related to planning and zoning. Planning and zoning permit applications can be obtained here: Permits, and will still be processed upon receipt by department staff.
