Automated Garbage Collection Service Coming in 2019
For safety, reduced costs, and service convenience for non-commercial properties, the City will be implementing automated garbage collection service with carts in 2019. Service details are currently in the development stage. In the meantime, if you are considering replacing your garbage can(s) please be aware that once the automated process begins, only carts issued by the City will be allowed. Garbage collection general information
Residents should put their garbage and recycling out on the curb before 6.00 a.m. of the day of pick up, but no sooner than 24 hours before pick up. Residents may take their garbage to Advanced Disposal, 2510 Engel Road, but a fee is charged at the landfill.
Garbage cans must not be larger than 32 gallons in size, with each household not to exceed three 32 gallon cans or equivalent. Larger cans or items not in cans or bags will not be picked up by the garbage crew. Placing garbage at the curb in plastic bags is acceptable.
Garbage is picked up once a week in each neighborhood.
Recycling general information
Recycling is collected on the same day as garbage, but every other week. Use the map to search for your address and determine your route. Once you know your route, you can click on the link for your recycling schedule.

Residents in multi-family units (5 or more apartments) should contact their apartment owner or manager for recycling details. Recycling is mandatory, but the City does not provide service for these multi-family units.
Garbage & Recycling Holiday Schedules:
The Street Department does not provide refuse or recycling collection on City holidays.
The 2019 holidays observed by the City are:
It is the policy of the Street Department to provide refuse and recycling collection in those areas affected by the holiday on the next working day after the holiday. All collections following a holiday are delayed one day. For example, if a holiday falls on a Monday, all residents of Monday's collection districts will have their refuse and recycling collected on Tuesday. Tuesday's collection will be on Wednesday, Wednesday's collection on Thursday, Thursday's collection on Friday, and Friday's collection on Saturday. Appliances - includes refrigerators, stoves, dishwashers, dehumidifiers, washer and dryers etc.
Electronics - includes computers, televisions, and miscellaneous recyclers
Hazardous Materials - includes paints, household chemicals, automobile fluids etc.
Miscellaneous Items - includes cement, bricks, wood, roof shingles, construction material, household batteries, plastic grocery bags, fluorescent bulbs etc.
