Records and Support Services
Records and Support Services is supervised by an Administrative Lieutenant who oversees, Ordinance Control Officer, and 4 civilian clerical staff. 

Ordinance Control Officer
This Officer enforces and oversees the administration of the property maintenance code and other general nuisance codes and ordinances such as:
  • Animal waste
  • Address numbers
  • Animal license
  • Animal exemption
  • Chicken issues
  • Grass and weed issues
  • Junk vehicles
  • Parking on grass
  • Rubbish and garbage
  • Sidewalk issues (snow or overgrown bushes and branches)
  • Vision triangles at intersections

​Local Police Contacts Check
Local

​Police Contacts Check service is available through the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department for the general public. The criminal check is for the City of Wisconsin Rapids only. Results of the check will be provided in the form of a letter or computer printout. The letter would list any City of Wisconsin Rapids arrests, traffic citations, and municipal citations. This does not include any arrests where there are pending criminal charges or outstanding warrants. Any questions about the dispositions of citations or warrants should be forwarded to the Wisconsin Rapids Municipal Court (715-421-6212) or Wood County Circuit Court (715-421-8491). You may request to have the letter notarized or certified. We require pre-payment of $3.00 for each name given in the form of a letter or 25 cents per page for computer printout. We need the full name and date of birth to complete your request.
 
Please Note: Wisconsin State Statute 48.396(1) does not allow us to release any records of children under eighteen (18) years of age prior to January 1, 1996. Any arrests for criminal matters on or after January 1, 1996 for children under seventeen (17) years of age will not be released.
 
Accident Reports
Accident report copies are available at CRASHDOCS. You will need the accident report number and date of accident to process the request. Accident reports are $3 per report. If your accident was non-reportable
please call our Records Department for assistance at 715-421-6210.

Incident Reports 
Wisconsin Rapids Police Department incident reports are available through the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department Records Counter.  Copy fee is 25 cents per page.
 
Police reports can be requested online or via the US Mail. Pre-payment is requested, along with a self-addressed stamped #10 envelope. Copy fee is 25 cents per page. Send requests to:

Reports can also be faxed. There is a pre-payment fee of $5.00 for the first six pages; each additional page will be faxed at the rate of $1 per page.
 
*We are able to take debit or credit cards as payment. There will be an additional fee for the use of a debit or credit card. 
 
Photographs
The Wisconsin Rapids Police Department will provide CD(s) of photographs at a fee of $10.00 per CD. CDs can be requested via the US Mail. Pre-payment is requested. It is advisable to contact the Records Department to determine how many CDs are on file in order to remit the proper fee. Send the fee and your request to the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department, Attention: Records.
 
Fingerprinting No Longer Being Offered at WRPD
If you need to be fingerprinted for court proceedings, you need to go to the Wood County Jail, 400 Market Street.

  • Public requests for fingerprinting can be referred/forwarded to the Wood County Jail via telephone – (715) 421-8719
  • Fingerprinting will be by appointment only, Monday – Friday  8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (no “walk-in” requests accepted)
  • There will be a $20.00 fee for this service (Cash Only, receipt will be provided)
  • Valid photo ID required
  • Digital fingerprinting service only - The Wood County Jail will provide “FD-258” fingerprint cards (No other fingerprint cards will be accepted/processed)
  • A fee exemption will be provided to local community service organizations and schools located in Wood County

Department Patches
We will trade shoulder patches with other departments if you send us your patch along with pre-paid envelope.  If you would like to purchase a patch, send your request along with a pre-paid envelope and $5.00 fee.
