If the weather cooperates, the Warming House at Witter Park plans to open for the season on Friday, January 19, 2024.
Recreation Center Skating Area Rules
- The warming house/ice rink attendant is in charge of the rink. Obey all instructions promptly. Report all accidents, infractions of rules, injuries, and damages to the attendant.
- Please be considerate of other skaters; passing or overtaking other skaters must be done carefully.
- Any skater age 12 or younger must be under direct supervision of a parent or guardian at all times.
- No person is permitted on the ice unless they are wearing ice skates.
- Roughness, horseplay, excessive speeding or weaving through other skaters is prohibited.
- No games permitted that will interfere with other skaters such as broom ball, crack the whip, etc. (without prior approval of the attendant).
- No food or beverages are allowed on the ice pond. Please use waste and recyclable bins.
- No alcohol, smoking, nicotine, e-cigarettes, tobacco or similar allowed in warming house or on park property.
- No hockey sticks or puck play allowed at Recreation Center Skating Area.
- Chipping, gouging, or kicking holes in the ice is strictly forbidden.
- No skates allowed on sidewalks or in bathrooms.
- No skating is allowed if ice is soft/slushy. Help keep the ice nice!
- No dogs allowed on the ice or in the shelter.
- Skate at your own risk! The Parks & Recreation Department is not responsible for the safety of the skaters using the rink at any time, or for the loss or theft of personal belongings.
- In the event of severe weather or school closings, the ponds may be closed and an announcement will be made on the on our website, Facebook page (Wisconsin Rapids Parks & Recreation) and Wisconsin Rapids Community Media.
