Have you ever thought about driving a police car, shooting police issued weapons, or watching a police canine take down a "suspect?"
Wisconsin Rapids Citizen's Police Academy participants are privileged to:
- Receiving inside information on calls police officers respond to
- Learn how crimes are investigated – drugs, deaths, sensitive crimes, property crimes, and more
- See the tools and technology used by our officers
- Observe demonstrations from our Special Response Team and canine unit
- Drive squad cars on our Emergency Vehicle Operation Course (EVOC)
- Partake in crime scene investigation(CSI)
- One full session dedicated to hands on learning about the Wis. Rapids Fire Department
Each session is instructed by officers certified and/or proficient in the topic being presented. These sessions run 9 consecutive weeks, one night each week from 6 pm - 9 pm. Our agency hosts two Academies a year - adults (21 years old or above) in the fall and high school students in the spring. You can complete the online application at any time. You will have a choice to select the upcoming session or the session for the following year.
Next Class: Fall 2024 Session Dates Oct. 1, 8, 15, 22, Nov. 5, 12, 19 with a final Graduation session on Nov. 26th.
