Former East Jr. High Field House to become new polling place, will replace Crossview Commons7/29/2020

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The former East Junior High School Field House will become a new polling location for some Wisconsin Rapids residents, beginning with the August 11 partisan primary election. Approved by the Common Council on July 21, East Junior High will replace the current polling location of Crossview Commons Church, who cited concerns over the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Voters in Wards 11-21 and Wards 24-29 will now vote at the new location. The former East Junior High School is located at 311 Lincoln Street; however, the entrance for voting will be located on the 6th Street side of the building. Residents in Wards 1-10 and Wards 22-23 will continue to vote at the Centralia Center, 220 3rd Avenue S. To find out where your polling location is, please visit myvote.wi.gov or https://www.wirapids.org/election--voter-information.html WISCONSIN RAPIDS -- The Rapids Rediscovered housing investment program, created in 2019, has funding available for constructing homes; $10,000 for demolition and construction, and $5,000 for construction only. The program exists to strengthen existing neighborhoods through reinvestment.
Program basics:
To be eligible for the Grant, you must have a purchase agreement for a lot, building plans, financial commitment, and insurance in hand. Prior to the submission of an application a pre-conference is required with the Community Development Department.
