Public Works Week is celebrated to recognize and raise awareness about the importance of public works in communities. It is typically observed during the third week of May. Public works refer to the infrastructure and services provided by government agencies and organizations that contribute to the well-being and quality of life for citizens. This includes a wide range of essential services such as road construction and maintenance, water and wastewater management, public transportation, parks and recreation facilities, solid waste management, and more. Mayor Shane Blaser has made a proclamation recognizing National EMS Week, May 21st-27th, 2023.
EMS Week is used to recognize all who work in the emergency medical system for their service and sacrifices. The City of Wisconsin Rapids thanks paramedics, EMTs, and the EMS workforce for their vital role in the community. Mayor Shane Blaser has made a proclamation for National Police Week.
National Police Week honors the law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. These heroes will never be forgotten for their ultimate sacrifice. Beginning in 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation declaring May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day, and the same calendar week as National Police Week. Mayor Shane Blaser has made a proclamation for Child Care Provider Appreciation Day. The day honors and celebrates all child care providers and early educators.
