WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The City of Wisconsin Rapids announces this year’s annual recruitment drive for Mayor’s Youth Council (MYC). The MYC is open to area students, grades 9 – 12; and there are at least eight available spots on this year’s council. Members are appointed to two-year terms (unless they’re a senior at the beginning of their term), with an option to reapply at the end of their term.
The MYC is a youth-led initiative where students have learning opportunities in the areas of leadership, government and community; engagement opportunities in a variety of student-developed projects; and relationship-building opportunities with peers and local leaders. “If you want your voice to be heard, this is the group to do it in. You can see your ideas become reality,” said Hobie Lippold, current MYC member. Recruitment activities will be fully virtual this year, while safety accommodations for MYC meetings are still being developed. For more information about the MYC or to submit an application, please call the Mayor’s Office at 715-421-8216 or visit us online at wirapids.org/mayors-youth-council, with recruitment materials at wirapids.org/mayors-youth-council-recruitment.
