Public Works Project Update
High Street – 7th Ave N to 10th Ave N
City crews completed the installation of the new 36” storm sewer main from 8th Ave N to 9th Ave N. Work also began on replacing storm manholes at the 9th Ave N intersection. Crews also removed curb, pavement and topsoil on the last block of the project this week. SX Blasting is scheduled Monday to drill and blast near the intersection of 8th Ave N next week for water and hydrant installation on High Street. High street remains closed from 7th Ave N to 10th Ave N with no driveway access to residents in the excavation area on the 700 and 800 blocks.
Wastewater force main river crossing
The 1840-foot pilot bore is complete some 40 feet below the river bed. Remaining boring consists of reaming the pilot bore to a 30” diameter which will ultimately house the new 20” force main sewer pipe. The reaming operation gains about 72 feet each day and crews are about half way complete with about 850 feet remaining. Final connections and road closures near Blue Heron Ln, Pepper Ave, and Ridgewood Trail intersections are tentatively planned for late July.
West Side Lift Station
Work has resumed again for the new building excavation.
Wisconsin River Green Space and Recreation Project
This week Janke Construction continued work on site grading in Demitz Park and riverbank stabilization within the park. The installation of the riverbank stabilization (riprap) along the shoreline in Demitz Park is also complete. They poured portions of the concrete trail between Demitz Park and Mead Street and began grading and installing gravel base for the parking lot in the park. Concrete work continues on the trail from the park to 3rd Street and along homes on 3rd Street.
