High Street - 7th Ave N to 10th Ave N
No work this week. The final surface layer remains before this project is complete. American Asphalt is expected to complete paving by early November. The street remains closed although residents have access to their homes.
 
Wastewater force main river crossing
The surface layer of asphalt remains on Blue Heron Lane and at the intersection of Pepper and Ridgewood trail.
 
West Side Lift Station
Miron Construction continues work within the new sump well. Precision Grading completed the backfilling this week.
 
Wisconsin River Green Space and Recreation Project
This week prime contractor Janke Construction completed the concrete trail along the Wisconsin River and finished installing the concrete steps in East River Bank Conservancy (see photo). They also finished work on the sidewalk/trail along 2nd Street. The Janke crew worked on installing the wood decking on the fishing pier in Demitz Park and plan to begin the grading and installation of topsoil in the East Riverbank Conservancy. Subcontractor Revi Landscaping finished planting and restoration work in Demitz Park. They moved on to 3rd Street, working from Demitz Park to the north, continuing restoration work. Current Technologies was onsite installing the light post in Demitz Park. They also installed conduit within the East Riverbank Conservancy. Next week Janke will complete all of the concrete in the East Riverbank Conservancy, weather permitting. They will continue working on the fishing pier decking and topsoil placement and grading on the project.
 
High Street - 12th Ave N to 17th Ave N
This week City crews completed all the underground work for High Street. Pember will be back next week to continue work on the curb and sidewalk. City crews will begin topsoil restoration work.
 
Van Buren Street – 8th Ave N to 10th Ave N
Asphalt paving remains for this project. American Asphalt is expected to complete paving by early November.
 
10th & 12th St Sidewalk Project
10th St. (Grove-Wood), Wood Ave (10th-12th) and 12th St (Wood-River Run) Pember concentrated work efforts on this project this week as the weather was good for paving. About two- thirds of the project is complete. Pember plans to finish all the concrete work next week weather permitting. Topsoil restoration will follow.

High Street - 7th Ave N to 10th Ave N
City crews finished preparing this portion of High Street for asphalt this week. American Asphalt anticipates paving this Street early next week.
 
Wastewater force main river crossing
A-1 Excavating began preparation work to pave the recreational trail from the zoo to the river. American Asphalt paved the repaired portions of Ridgewood and Blue Heron Lane. Topsoil restoration remains on Blue Heron Lane.
 
West Side Lift Station
Miron Construction continues concrete work within the new sump well. Delays due to rock slowed construction this week of the new 30” inlet pipe and sanitary manhole. The project remains on-schedule for a February completion.
 
Wisconsin River Green Space and Recreation Project
This week Janke worked in the East Riverbank Conservancy removing the old kayak launch and installing the riverbank steps. They also continued work on the riverbank stabilization and grading for the trail/sidewalk within the same area. The shade structure is completed within Demitz Park and American Asphalt paved the parking area.
Current Technologies was onsite trenching conduit for the upcoming installation of electrical service. Janke plans to be working on sidewalk trails in the East Riverbank Conservancy next week. They will continue working northwards installing riverbank stabilization and grading the trail in preparation of concrete.
 
High Street - 12th Ave N to 17th Ave N
This week City crews concentrated on underground work within the 13th Ave N intersection. Rock was excavated and seven new manholes were installed in this area. Pember poured concrete curb and is working on sidewalk from 14th Ave N to 17th Ave N. Next week SX blasting is planning on blasting rock for the new storm sewer trench along the north section of High Street from 13th Ave N to 14th Ave N. Residents along the 1300 block of High Street will not have direct access to their driveways during this stage of construction.
 
Van Buren Street – 8th Ave N to 10th Ave N
KS Energies completed the gas main replacement this week. City crews began final road grading in preparation for asphalt paving. Due to inclement weather, Pember was not onsite this week. Pember poured ½ the curb at the 8th Ave N intersection and is planning on completing the intersection next week. City crews will then prepare the Street for asphalt paving.
 
10th & 12th St Sidewalk Project
10th St. (Grove-Wood), Wood Ave (10th-12th) and 12th St (Wood-River Run) No work this week as Pember concentrated efforts on High Street.

City crews completed the majority of the topsoil restoration this week. The concrete is poured and cured and residents once again have access to their driveways. Pember has some small portions of concrete to complete then the street will be ready for asphalt.

Retaining wall construction began this week on Blue Heron Lane. Crews expect to finish the wall next week.
 
West Side Lift Station
Miron Construction completed the 420 cubic yards of concrete work on the outside portion of the sump well. Next week Miron plans to begin backfilling the sump well and installing the inlet pipe and manhole. The project is on-schedule for a February completion.
 
Wisconsin River Green Space and Recreation Project
This week Janke completed all of the concrete work within Demitz Park. The crew worked on placing topsoil within the park and finished installation of the new driveway into the park, which included grading the driveway and new parking lot area. They also finished concrete along 3rd Street, down to Mead Street and along 2nd Street, up to Witter Street. Lastly, riverbank stabilization was installed within the East Riverbank Conservancy and grading began for the multi-use trail. Next week Janke plans to continue working in the East Riverbank Conservancy installing riverbank stabilization and grading in preparation of the trail being poured along the river. Revi Designs will continue restoration and plantings in Demitz Park. Weather permitting; American Asphalt will be onsite to begin fine grading and paving of the driveway and parking lot in Demitz Park.

This week City crews completed the underground work between 14th Ave N and 15th Ave N. Next week work will continue between 13th Ave N and 14th Ave N. Residents along the 1300 block of High Street will not have direct access to their driveways during this stage of construction.

Myron Contractors completed setting forms and steel for the first half of the new sump well this week. They expect to pour 200 cubic yards of concrete next week.

This week Janke poured the concrete pad for the shade structure in Demitz Park. They also worked on pouring the concrete trail, installing riprap and grading on 2nd Street. Next week Janke will work on installing sections of the trail adjacent to the shade structure in Demitz Park. They also plan to continue working on the concrete trail and installing riprap along 2nd Street.
 
High Street - 12th Ave N to 17th Ave N
This week City crews began placing new underground utilities on High Street concentrating on the segment between 15th Ave N and 17th Ave N. Residents do not have direct access to their driveways within this section.
 
Van Buren Street - 8th Ave N to 10th Ave N
Pember poured curb and gutter on Van Buren Street this week. The street remains closed from 8th Ave N to 10th Ave N. Pember will be back next week to work on driveways.

Project Update #15 (8-17-18)

High Street – 7th Ave N to 10th Ave N
Pember Companies, Inc., the City’s concrete contractor set curb pins this week making ready to pour the curb and gutter on High Street early next week. Residents will not have direct access to their driveways until after the concrete work is completed and cured.
 
Wastewater force main river crossing
Crews finished pulling the new 20” sanitary force main pipe across the river this week completing this complicated phase of the City’s new force main project.
 
West Side Lift Station
The concrete footing for the new west side lift station was poured this week. Crews are setting forms and steel for the structure walls.
 
Wisconsin River Green Space and Recreation Project
This week Janke Construction completed concrete trail work within Demitz Park, poured the footings for the shade structure within the park and began placing topsoil. They also started work on the 2nd Street trail.
Subcontractor Current Technologies continued putting in electrical conduit within the park. Next week Janke will keep working on the 2nd Street trail. They plan to install the concrete for the shade structure and work on trails adjacent to the shade structure.
 
High Street – 12th Ave N to 17th Ave N
Construction of this segment of High Street began Wednesday this week. The existing road surface, curb, sidewalk and topsoil was removed from 15th Ave N to 17th Ave N. Crews plan to begin underground utility replacement on this section next week.
 
Van Buren Street – 8th Ave N to 10th Ave N
Van Buren Street is in gravel and ready for new curb. Pember Companies, Inc. plans on pouring curb and gutter on Van Buren Street next week. The street remains closed from 8th Ave N to 10th Ave N.
